Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2002 750ml, Eden Valley
Expert Reviews
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 96 pts - The 2002 Mount Edelstone Shiraz is spectacular. Its dense, opaque ruby/purple color is followed by a big, smoky perfume of roasted meats, creme de cassis, blackberries, licorice, and barbecue spices as well as a fabulously long finish that lasts nearly a minute. This flamboyant, exotic, full-bodied, rich, unctuous 100% Shiraz was aged in 80% new American and French oak for 18 months. Drink it over the next 12-15 years. This cuvee often possesses impressive aging potential as evidenced by the 1990 (rated 94) and 1979 (rated 92), both drunk in July, 2005. - Oct 2005
James Halliday'S Wine Companion - 96 pts - Clean blackberry, plum and a touch of prune on the bouquet; the palate utterly belies the alcohol, with a cascade of black fruits and spices; very good oak and tannin management. Date tasted 6 Oct 2005. Drink by 2022.
Wine Spectator - 94 pts - Ripe and focused, beautifully balanced to show its black cherry, black pepper, black olive and licorice flavors, lingering effortlessly against fine-grained tannins as the flavors last and last. Drink now through 2020. 200 cases imported. -HS Sep 30 2005
