Henschke Hill of Grace Shiraz 1996 750ml, Eden Valley
Expert Reviews
James Halliday's Wine Companion - 97 pts - Sits on the right hand of Grange, equally deified, and now challenging its (Grange's) price; for a vintage such as 1996 no one is likely to complain. Deep red-purple; the bouquet is exceptionally rich and ripe (for the often reserved style) with lusciously sweet blackcurrant, blackberry and mint fruit cascading through to the palate. Date tasted 5 Oct 2000. Drink by 2026. Wine Spectator - 98 pts - Ripe, complex and tremendously expressive, with a meaty character weaving through the gorgeous blackberry, mulberry, plum and exotic spice aromas and flavors, which form up into a harmonious chorus and keep singing gloriously on the long, refined and open-textured finish.--Australian reds blind retrospective. 500 cases made. -HS
