Kay Brothers Block 6 Shiraz 2006 750ml, McLaren Vale

Produced from 122 year old vines (as of 2014) located in McLaren Vale, the 2006 Kay Brothers Block 6 Shiraz will not disappoint. The wine itself is still made in the traditional way, that is hand picked and with the use of open top fermenters.

Expert Reviews

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 95 pts - The Block 6 Shiraz comes from centurion vines plated in 1896. The 2006 Block 6 Shiraz has a very deep garnet color going a little brick in the rim and an evolved, earthy / gamey nose with notes of mulberries, dried plums, kirsch and tobacco plus menthol, cinnamon stick, licorice and espresso. Rich and full yet elegantly constructed, it presents a medium level of very fine tannins, crisp acid and a long layered finish. A very fine glass now, it should continue to cellar to 2019+. - Dec 2010

James Halliday's Wine Companion - 93 pts - A dark, brooding wine of rather large proportions, but put together with aplomb; at the core there is an abundance of sweet fruit, and the structure is dense, tannic and chewy and requires a little time to soften; should reward patience well. Date tasted 21 Nov 2008. Drink by 2020
