Kaesler The Bogan Shiraz 2002 750ml, Barossa Valley
The 2002 Kaesler Bogan Shiraz is produced from old vines planted in 1899 situated at Kaesler's Marananga vineyard. Displaying rich, concentrated fruit this particular vintage still holds plenty of life and will continue to do so until 2020 or thereabouts.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 93 pts - The Bogan Shiraz is the product of 100% bush vines planted in 1899. A look at the 2002 'The Bogan' Shiraz revealed a deep garnet-brick color and intense aromas of mulberry and fresh fig plus plenty of cloves and Indian spices. The palate confirms that there's still a lot of life left in this wine with its full body, medium-high level of fine-grained tannins, crisp acid and plenty of layers of dark berry fruits and spices going long into the finish. Delicious now, it should cellar well to 2018+. - Dec 2010
James Halliday's Wine Companion - 94 pts - Deep, intense colour; extremely powerful and concentrated; huge black fruits, huge tannins and masses of extract; will live forever if the cork holds. Mega 15.5 ° alcohol. Date tasted 30 Dec 2004, drink by 2022
