Kay Brothers Block 6 Shiraz 2005 750ml, McLaren Vale
Yet another stellar vintage from the phenomenal winemakers at Kay Brothers Wines, the 2005 Block 6 Shiraz is a full bodied spicy offering that will last well beyond 2020. The continued success of the Block 6 line up is no surprise due to the diligent efforts of the team at Kay Brothers.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 97 pts - Deep garnet in color, the 2005 Block 6 Shiraz exudes beguiling notes of warm black cherries, raspberry preserves and Chinese dried plums with hints of fruit cake, salami, mocha and licorice. Very big, full-bodied and rich, the palate is very spicy, densely laden with dried fruits and savory flavors and structured by medium-firm grainy tannins through the long finish. Mature now, it should cellar to 2024+. - Feb 2014
James Halliday's Wine Companion - 92 pts - Big, rich and ripe, but not a hint of shrivel; full-bodied with plenty of oak to go with the mocha, fruitcake and intense varietal shiraz. Date tasted 02 Jan 2008, drink by 2020.
