James Halliday's Wine Companion - 90 pts - Dense red-purple; the bouquet is very concentrated and very oaky, the palate extremely dense with masses of sweet dark berry fruit and an extraordinary amount of basically vanillin oak. It really is hard to imagine how much more flavour could be introduced into any wine. Date tasted 1 Feb 1998. Drink by 2015 Wine Spectator - 93 pts - Rich, smooth and powerful, its layers of blackberry, black cherry and licorice flavors swirling with coffee and toasty oak notes. Has intensity of color, flavor and length. Impressive now, but give it until 1999 to settle. 1,500 cases made. - Nov 30 1996
