Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2006 750ml, Eden Valley
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 94+ pts - Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2006 Mount Edelstone has warm blackberry, cinnamon and clove aromas with hints of capsicum, tilled loam and black truffles. Some oak is poking through on the concentrated, full bodied palate with a medium-firm level of grainy, tight-knit tannins and long savory finish. - Jan 2011
James Halliday's Wine Companion - 96 pts - Deep purple-crimson; the bouquet is intense and full of spicy black fruits accurately foretelling the power and purity of the palate; this is an outstanding Mount Edelstone, indeed, I cannot remember any better than this; it has the focus and structure to guarantee a 30-year future, if this is what you are after. Alas, it will long outlive me. How good will the 06 Hill of Grace be? Shiraz. Date tasted 2 Apr 2009. Drink by 2036.
Wine Spectator - 92 pts - Distinctive and appealing, this open-textured red has a strong green olive note that works through the cherry and tobacco flavors, lingering on the finish as it fades slowly. Shiraz. Best from 2011 through 2020. -HS Oct 15 2009
