Gibson Barossa Vale Wilfreda Blend 2003 750ml, Barossa Valley
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 91 pts - The 2003 Wilfreda is a gorgeously complex, southern Rhone-like red made from a blend of 52% Shiraz, 36% Mourvedre, and 12% Grenache (whose vineyards average 30 years of age). Its classic bouquet of pepper, garrigue, cassis, cherries, raspberries, plums, and earth could easily be mistaken for a high class Chateauneuf du Pape. Dense and full-bodied, with superb fruit, supple tannin, and loads of soul as well as character, it should be consumed over the next 5-7 years. - Oct 2005
James Halliday's Wine Companion - 92 pts - Much more depth than many such blends; an attractive mix of black fruits, chocolate and red fruits; supple, ripe tannins. Mourvedre/Grenache. Date tasted 30 Dec 2004. Drink by 2013.
Wine Spectator - 90 pts - Firm in texture, generous with its minty, tarry black cherry and spicy oak flavors, lingering on the broad finish. Shiraz, Mourvèdre and Grenache. Best from 2007 through 2015. 200 cases imported.-HS Oct 15 2005
