Two Hands Ares Shiraz 2004 750ml, Barossa Valley

$170.00

The 2004 Ares Shiraz is another top notch contribution from Two Hands Wines and fully justifies its standing as a part of the flagship series. Cellared and raring to go, this wine will last well into the 2020's. Well done Two Hands for the creation of another first class Shiraz.

Expert Reviews

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 96+ pts - The 2004 Shiraz Ares is spectacular. Aged 12 months in 100% new French oak, the Ares is produced from the finest 20 barrels from the Bella's Garden cuvee. Inky/blue/purple with notes of graphite, blueberries, blackberries, black currants, licorice, and smoke, this is a full-bodied, super-rich, intense, fabulously pure, rich Shiraz with a multidimensional mid-palate as well as a 45+ second finish. It will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age, and should keep for 2-3 decades. - Oct 2006

James Halliday's Wine Companion - 95 pts - Dense colour; ultra-powerful and concentrated, and somewhat bound up in itself, albeit with sumptuous dark fruits; needs much patience. Date tasted 11 Sep 2006, drink by 2024

Wine Spectator - 97 pts - Rich and generous with its silky tannins and expressive black cherry, blackberry, huckleberry and meaty spice notes that flit through the long, round, oak-scented finish. Has great vibrancy and detail, and the finish lingers for days. Shiraz. Drink now through 2020. 417 cases imported. -HS, Oct 2006
