Kaesler Old Vine Shiraz 2004 3L, Barossa Valley

Kaesler Old Vine Shiraz 2004 3L, Barossa Valley

One of the more well received vintages by the wider wine community, the 2004 Kaesler Old Vine Shiraz is a 94+ point wine that will continue to impress until roughly 2020. This fine Barossa Shiraz displays more of a silky mouthfeel than some of Kaesler's bolder counterparts, but make no mistake this wine still has the guts expected from a top shelf Kaesler product.

Expert Reviews

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 93 to 95 pts - The 2004 Old Vine Shiraz (from a vineyard planted in 1961) was aged in 100% French oak. Its opaque purple color is followed by earth, graphite, and melted road tar characteristics as well as a long, full-throttle palate that has more layers, finesse, and concentration than The Bogan. - Oct 2005

James Halliday's Wine Companion - 94 pts - Smooth, supple, velvety black fruits; against the majestic power of Old Bastard seems positively elegant; long, balanced palate. Date tasted 7 Apr 2006, drink by 2019

Wine Spectator - 91 pts - Bright and focused, a jazzy mouthful of blackberry and cherry fruit shaded with licorice and pepper. It gets a bit alcoholic in the mouth, but it has the density to carry it off. Best after 2008. 400 cases made. -HS, Sep 30 2006
