Coriole Mary Kathleen Reserve Cabernet Merlot 2002 Magnum 1.5L, McLaren Vale
Each vintage is a small portion of Cabernet and Merlot are hand selected for this blend that is named in honour of Molly Lloyd, one of the founders of Coriole.Mary Kathleen is a wine of elegance and concentration and it is a contrast to the opulence of Mclaren Vale shiraz. The quality of this wine can be attributed to the estate grown fruit, age of our wines, and the propertys terra roma soils.
Typical of Mary Kathleen style this wine is medium weighted and elegant, and will reward cellaring up to ten years. There are aromas of black currant, spearmint and cinnamon. Mary Kathleen has dark berry flavours and dry, even tannins.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 90pts - Made from the same blend as the 2001, the 2002 Cabernet/Merlot Mary Kathleen reveals a more saturated deep ruby/purple color, additional tar, black currant, and licorice characteristics, excellent texture, sweeter fruit, more layers, and a purer, richer finish.
