Kaesler Old Vine Shiraz 2005 3L, Barossa Valley

Kaesler Old Vine Shiraz 2005 3L, Barossa Valley

Following the highly successful 2004 vintage, the 2005 Kaesler Old Vine Shiraz may have outdone its predecessor, but that is more personal opinion than anything else. Rated 95 points this vintage delivers all the goodness of a premier Barossa Valley Shiraz, with its rich fruit harmoniously balanced with oaky undertones. Drink it now or put it down in the cellar for years to come.

Expert Reviews

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 94 pts - Moving up in price as well as quality, the 2005 Shiraz Old Vine (45- to 105-years old) is an ageworthy, full-bodied, powerful, muscular Shiraz boasting plenty of tannin as well as structure, and a sweet perfume of creme de cassis, toasty oak, white flowers, and licorice. While accessible, this powerful red should keep for 10-15 years. - Oct 2006

James Halliday's Wine Companion - 95 pts - Deep colour; excellent blackberry and satsuma plum fruit; finely balanced and integrated oak; supple tannins; 45-year-old vines. Date tasted 30 Nov 2006, drink by 2025
